Me (wearing the hat) and my course friends

I heard of UWTSD through my friend who was studying Acting on the Carmarthen campus. He spoke about how warm and welcoming the lecturers are as well as how much support they give you. UWTSD was the last place I auditioned for and I couldn’t believe how different it was to all of the places I had auditioned for. For the most part I had applied to drama schools and been very successful, but I always felt out of place and I felt a little bit like I was just a number to them not an actual person. When I came to UWTSD, I felt as though they genuinely cared about me and wanted to do well.

The audition wasn’t daunting at all and the two lectures taking it made it fun and so enjoyable. I always felt that with the other places they were watching me like a hawk waiting for me to mess up whereas I felt so supported and knew they wanted me to do well as much as I did. It didn’t feel like a test I needed to pass, it was so much fun and I knew that this was the place I wanted to go to.

I had a chance to go to a drama school, but I turned it down to come here and it was the best decision I have ever made. I have just come to the end of my second year and it’s been the best two years of my education. I have met so many amazing people and been taught by such a wide variety of lecturers, most of whom are working in the industry currently. I’ve grown so much as an actor and within myself thanks to my wonderful lectures and friends.

On my course there is a wide variety of modules, such as Performing Shakespeare, Symbolism and Absurd, Popular Song and Dance, which help prepare you for the industry. Every single lecturer wants you to do well here, they really care about each and every student, we all have such a close relationship and I know that if I ever needed anything they would do their best to help me. I feel like I wouldn’t necessarily get the level of support and love that I receive at UWTSD anywhere else.

Fun at the Valentines Ball!

I have one year left now and I will be completely gutted when I have to leave as I’ve created so many amazing memories here. I wouldn’t change one thing about my uni experience at all and I am so glad that I chose to come here over the other places I was offered. It’s been a life changing experience and I can’t wait to start my final year in September.
